Firm co-founding partner Mary Kirkpatrick has broad experience covering personal injury, product liability, medical malpractice, workers’ compensation, immigration, and family law. Her skills have proven valuable to a wide range of clients, for whom she has provided effective dispute resolution, trial representation, and appellate argument before the Vermont Supreme Court.
With more than 30 years experience, Ms. Kirkpatrick has conducted more than 50 trials to resolution and has handled many successful appeals. Her capital punishment defense advocacy work was recognized in 1998, when she received the prestigious Thurgood Marshall Award from the New York City Bar Association. She has been a long-time board member of the Vermont Association of Justice, and is a former Co-Chair of the Vermont Bar Association Tort Liability Committee.
With more than 25 years of litigation experience, co-founding partner Richard Goldsborough has an impressive trial and appellate record in personal injury, criminal defense, workers’ compensation, and family law. He is known to be a formidable insurance opponent, protecting the interests of clients in liability, bad faith, uninsured motorist, and other cases. He has secured several million dollar recoveries for injured clients, including a $1.63 million uninsured motorist arbitration verdict, and has had several high-profile product liability successes against General Motors.
Mr. Goldsborough has appeared before the Vermont Supreme Court and Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and served two three year terms on Vermont’s Judicial Conduct Board after appointment by the Supreme Court and served as the vice chairman from 2009-2015. Mr Goldsborough receives ad hoc appointments for the Vermont Professional Responsibility Program to investigate ethical misconduct complaints against lawyers.
Mr. Weimer’s practice involves both trial and appellate advocacy in the state and federal courts. He also helps clients resolve their disputes through mediation. He has extensive experience in personal injury litigation and employment litigation, representing both plaintiffs and defendants. Mr. Weimer also has experience defending toxic tort cases and has represented national oil refiners in environmental suits involving the gasoline additive MTBE.
Mr. Weimer is a graduate of the University of Vermont and a graduate, cum laude, of Vermont Law School, where he served as Research Editor of the Vermont Law Review.
